I am trying very hard to keep all channels open and do the right thing but decades of globalisation now seems to be coming to an end. Here is a list of changes that the EU will soon be bringing into effect:
November 2026 - Product Identifiers
For B2C shipments imported into the EU, additional product identification data will become mandatory for customs declarations.
This is expected to include information such as merchant product identifiers and manufacturer product identifiers.
November 2026 - EU Handling Fee
The EU is expected to introduce an EU-wide customs handling fee on B2C goods entering from outside the EU.
Legislation confirming the exact details of this handling fee hasn't been released yet.
December 2026 - EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
Businesses importing certain regulated commodities and products into the EU will need to follow a new due diligence process and provide additional information accordingly as part of the customs declaration process.
This applies only to products covered by the EUDR legislation.
January 2027 - Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) Right to Use
New validation requirements will be introduced for IOSS numbers used on EU import declarations.
This will help customs authorities verify that the IOSS number being used is authorised by the seller for the shipment being imported.
